Whitesboro outdueled cross-town rival New Hartford 5-4 to earn its first TVL win of the season.
Mike Bunal (1-0) earned the win for the Warriors giving up 4 runs on six hits and striking out 9 Spartans (0-1, 1-2). Johnny Crossley picked up the save ending New Hartford’s four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Offensively, Whitesboro was led by Adam Broski’s three base hits and three RBIs and Connor Passalacqua’s pair of doubles.
Mike Bunal and Dan Cecilia also had a double each for the Warriors (1-1, 2-5). The Spartans were led at the plate by John Calabrese’s two base hits and an RBI along with Matt Desens’ double.
New Hartford’s next game is Saturday at home against Clinton at 11 a.m. while Whitesboro plays at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Proctor in the first annual Oneida County Youth Bureau’s and Oneida County STOP DWI’s High School Baseball Classic at Murnane Field.

Highlights: Whitesboro sent 25 batters to the plate and scored 20 runs in the top of the seventh to rally from a two-run deficit going on to win 25 – 7 over the Depew Wildcats of Western New York at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Dan Cecilia was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs to lead Whitesboro to its first victory of the season.
Devin Lebuis, Mike Jardieu, Jared Muraca, and Zach Gnatek also had multiple hits for the Warriors who next play at 8:30 p.m. on Monday against Liverpool at the Ripken Experience.
