MVCC offers one of the most extensive, diverse, and successful two-year college intercollegiate athletic programs in the entire country.
MVCC prides itself on the overall depth and well-roundedness of its entire athletic program. There are a wide variety of individual (12) and team (10) sports for men and women.
The diversity of the program (11 sports for men and 11 for women) virtually assures any interested student that there is the opportunity to participate in the sport of their interest at MVCC.
The majority of the coaching staff are full time employees of the college and are here to help each athlete grow and develop both in skill and as an individual.
The entire college community is excited by the achievements of our athletes sending many teams and individuals to regional and national competitions and triumphs.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 5/5/13 is Nichole Bliss. Nichole led the Women’s Track Team to the Region III Championship. She won the Shot Put, Discus and Hammer Throw. Her Hammer Throw was a meet record. She was selected as the Female Athlete of the Meet. Miss Bliss is a freshman Liberal Arts Major who graduated from Dolgeville High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 4/28/13 is Alex Vujanic. Alex defeated opponents from Broome CC and SUNY Delhi to extend his season record at #1 singles to 7-1. Mr. Vujanic is a freshman Electrical Technology major who graduated from Proctor High School.
4/21
The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 4/21/13 is Bryan McGuire. Bryan led the Hawks Baseball Team to 5 wins in 6 games last week including a 4-game sweep of Eastern Division rival Schenectady CCC. Bryan hit for a .470 average with 5 RBI’s. He had the game winning hit in the first game and a game tying triple in the second game against Schenectady. The sophomore Sports Medicine major is a graduate of Herkimer High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 4/14/13 is Evan Thompson. The MVCC goalie recorded 70 saves in a 3 game span stopping 63% of the shots he faced. Mr. Thompson was a major factor in the Hawks 12-5 victory over Tompkins Cortland. The sophomore Health Science major is a graduate of Salmon River High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 4/7/13 is Doug Decarlo. Doug was the Individual Champion at the 2013 MVCC Golf invitational held at the Oneida Community Golf Club. The freshman Business Management major shot a 2 over par score of 73 to take home the honors. Mr. Decarlo is a graduate of Whitesboro High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 3/31/13 is Carol Currado. Carol scored 17 goals in helping the Hawks Lacrosse Team to two wins in three games last week. The sophomore General Studies major is a graduate of Chittenango High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 3/24/13 is Zephan Kash. Zephan helped lead the Hawks Baseball Team to a 6-2 record on their annual trip to Myrtle Beach. The Hawks cleanup man hit for a .346 average with 1 homerun and 4 RBI’s. Mr. Kash is a sophomore Liberal Arts major who graduated from Homer High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 3/3/13 is Barrie Brooks. Barrie averaged 9.6 points, 3 three-point baskets and 6 rebounds per game in helping the Hawks to the Region III Championship. Miss Brooks is a Liberal Arts major who graduated from Proctor High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 2/17/13 is Dimitri Campbell. Dimitri averaged 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals in leading the Hawks to two wins in three games last week. Mr. Campbell is a General Studies major who graduated from East High School in Rochester, NY.
2/10
The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 2/10/13 is Stevie Ray. Stevie helped lead the #3 Nationally ranked Hawks Women’s Basketball Team to three victories last week. The freshman guard averaged 13 points, 5 assists and 5 steals in the three games. Miss Ray is a Liberal Arts major who graduated from Fabius-Pompey High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 2/3/13 is Karrin Walker. Karrin helped lead the Hawks Women’s Basketball Team to victories over Herkimer CCC and Hudson Valley CC. She averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds in the two games. Miss Walker is a sophomore Education major who graduated from Richard R. Green High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 1/27/13 is Jeffery Pierre-Louis. Jeffery has averaged double figures in five of the last seven games. He has been a defensive leader and standout for the Hawks Basketball Team all season. The sophomore Sports Medicine major is a graduate of Bryant High School.
1/20
The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 1/20/13 is Brittany Macrina. Brittany led the Women’s Bowling Team to victory at the Hawk Invitational. Miss Macrina was second in singles with a 790 series as well as the All-Events Champion with an eight game combined score of 1,687, which was 110 pins higher than her closest competitor. The sophomore Education major is a graduate of Mohawk High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 1/13/13 is Carlin Chruscicki. Carlin set an Indoor Track school record in the weight throw. Her throw of 47’7-1/2” is the best ever by a Region III female athlete. The sophomore Liberal Arts major has qualified for the Indoor Track Nationals to be held at Texas Tech University in March. Miss Chruscicki is a graduate of South Lewis High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 12/9/12 is Basil Harley. Basil averaged 11 points per game in leading the Hawks to 2 victories last week. The freshman General Studies major is leading the team with an 85% free throw percentage to go along with 11 points and 3 assists per game on the season. Mr. Harley is a graduate of Wadleigh High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 12/2/12 is Laz Martinez. Laz led the Men’s Basketball Team to a victory over previously unbeaten Columbia Greene CC. Mr. Martinez scored 16 points in the 70-56 victory. The sophomore Physical Education major is a graduate of Wadleigh High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 11/25/12 is Shaniece Brown. Shaniece led the 8-0 and #5 Nationally ranked Hawks to an impressive win over the #7 ranked Fulton-Montgomery Raiders. Miss Brown scored 28 points including 3-three point baskets and 4 assists. The sophomore General Studies major is a graduate of Rochester School of the Arts High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 11/18/12 is Barrie Brooks. The Sophomore captain led the 7-0 and #5 Nationally Ranked Women’s Basketball Team to three wins last week. She averaged 11 points and 5 rebounds while adding 11 three-point baskets. Miss Brooks is a General Studies Major who graduated from Proctor High School.

The MVCC Athlete(s) of the Week for the week ending 11/11/12 is the entire Women’s Soccer Team coached by Steve Senior and Jim Vitale.
The Hawks capped off an amazing season by winning the NJCAA National Championship. The Women finished the 2012 season with a final overall record of 21-1-1. Congratulations!

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the Week ending 11/4/12 is Mornique Murphy. Mornique averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds per game in leading the Women’s Basketball Team to the Championship of the Anthony Torchia Classic. For her outstanding effort she was selected as the Tournament MVP. Miss Murphy is a sophomore General Studies major who graduated from William C. Bryant High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 10/28/12 is Samantha Getman. Samantha helped lead the Women’s Soccer Team to a Region III-B Championship. Samantha scored two goals in the Hawks Semi-Final win over Erie CC and then tallied another in a 2-1 victory over Finger Lakes CC in the Championship game. Miss Getman was also named as the Region III Tournament MVP. She is a sophomore General Studies major who graduated from Whitesboro High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 10/21/12 is Admir Ramic. Admir scored two goals including the game winner in the Hawks Regional Playoff victory over Jamestown CC. Mr. Ramic is a Sophomore Financial Services Management major.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 10/7/12 is Sara Rifendifer. Sara ran her fastest time of the year at the Hamilton College Invitational this past weekend. The Women’s Cross Country Team has not lost to a Junior College squad all year and is currently ranked #1 in the NJCAA National Poll. Miss Rifendifer is a sophomore Fine Arts major who graduated from Oneida High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 9/30/12 is Leylee Tayefeh. Leylee defeated her opponent from Onondaga CC last week to improve to 6-1 in singles tennis competition. The freshman General Studies major is a graduate of Westmoreland High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 9/23/12 is Meghan Carlo.Meghan had 5 goals and 3 assists in leading the Women’s Soccer Team to two wins last week. The freshman Chemical Engineering major currently leads the NJCAA in scoring. Miss Carlo is a graduate of Oriskany High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 9/16/12 is Kayla Brittell. Kayla helped lead the Women’s Volleyball Team to their first win of the season at the Broome CC Tournament. The freshman Childhood Education major had; 5 aces, 6 kills 62 assists and 16 digs. Miss Brittell is a graduate of NY Mills High School.

The MVCC Athlete of the Week for the week ending 9/9/12 is Tom Arcuri. Tom was the first place Junior College finisher at the SUNY Cobleskill Cross Country Invitational. Mr. Arcuri is a sophomore Liberal Arts major who graduated from Sauquoit High School.

Meghan scored four goals in leading the Hawks to a 9-2 victory over the defending Region III-B Champions, Jamestown-Olean CC.
