The Hawks opened the season by winning both the Finger Lakes CC and SUNY Delhi Tournaments and opened Region III play with a big 4-0 thrashing of Cayuga Community College on Saturday.

The Hawks have yielded just one goal in their first five games of the season coming into today’s contest.

Hawks goal keeper Shane Connelly (Wolcott, NY) was perfect again today as MVCC defeated the previously unbeaten TC3 Panthers by a score of 2-0.

Mohawk Valley got its first goal with 19:46 remaining in the first half when David Gould (Frankfort, NY) lofted a corner kick toward the TC3 goal, which was headed perfectly by former Sauquoit Valley star Mason Olmstead past Panthers goalkeeper Brian Wagstaff to give the Hawks an early one goal lead.

MVCC's Josh Ostrander (8) isn't doing his floor routine, he's in the very middle of his hand spring flip throw in late in the match.

Neither team was able to mount a serious scoring threat for the remainder of the first half as both teams committed too many fouls and ball movement suffered as a result.

The teams went into the intermission with MVCC out shooting Tompkins 4-2 and leading the game 1-0.

The second half featured more defensive posturing by both teams until Mohawk Valley’s Armin Budnjo (Utica, NY) took a throw in from Josh Ostrander (Northville, NY) and scored what would be the final goal of the match with 17:57 remaining in regular time.

With the win MVCC improves to (6-0), while TC3 drops to (3-1).

Connelly finished with 5 saves for MVCC and Wagstaff Finished with 6 saves for Tompkins CCC.
