Herkimer, NY—Herkimer County Community College men’s soccer goalie Triston Henry, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada and defender Peter McAvoy, Dundee, Scotland were both named to the 2013 NSCAA All-American first team.
This is Henry’s second year selected as an NSCAA All-American. He has 29 career shutouts including the 2012 & 2013 National Championship games. Henry allowed only four goals in the 2013 season.
McAvoy, who was also named Region III Player of the Year, was the leading scorer with 15 goals. He had all three game winning goals in the NJCAA national tournament. McAvoy was part of the defense that allowed only five goals all season.
“Triston is one of the best goalkeepers that I ever had in 16 years of coaching. He made two of the most amazing saves in the national championship game,” said Coach Pepe Aragon.
“Pete is a true leader on the field. I never had a central back play such a huge part in both our defense and offense. He had seven winning games for us this season,” Aragon said.
Both men played in 18 games for the Generals in 2013, helping the program win its 10th NJCAA Division III National Championship and third consecutive.
Together, McAvoy and Henry helped the Generals to a 37-3 record in two seasons.
