Utica, NY (8/7/2013) – Former Utica College student-athlete and current Mercedes-Benz USA Brand Experience Marketing Manager Stephanie Zimmer will provide the keynote remarks at the Utica College Athletics Spirit Luncheon on Wednesday, August 21st on campus at the Clark Athletic Center. The presenting sponsor for the event is Adirondack Community Physicians and all proceeds from the event will support women’s athletics at Utica College.
The Spirit Luncheon, which will run between Noon-1:30 p.m. in the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium, will include a buffet lunch, (2) four game UC hockey ticket vouchers, (2) season passes for football, as well as a Mercedes-Benz umbrella and tote bag give-a-way. Stephanie Zimmer earned her B.A. in Public Relations at Utica College of Syracuse University in 1996, and spent three years as an Event Specialist for Fujifilm USA in Elmsford, NY, before making the career-changing decision to move to the luxury automotive industry.
Zimmer’s career quickly accelerated over the next 13 years to the management level, and has expanded far beyond management of events to spearheading the strategic vision of Mercedes-Benz’ experiential marketing strategy including adding The PGA of America, The Masters, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and the US Open Tennis Championships to their experiential marketing portfolio.
In 2012, she was instrumental in completing the first naming rights deal for the company in the United States with the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA, home to the New Orleans Saints.
Marissa Kalil, D.O. will also speak at the event. Dr. Kalil, also a graduate of Utica College, is a provider with Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare at the Adirondack Community Physician’s Office in New Hartford. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Utica College and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown. Dr. Kalil is board certified in Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
The 2013 Athletic Spirit Luncheon is a celebration of women’s athletics at Utica College. The intent of the luncheon program is to grow support for the women’s athletics programs at Utica College through motivational and inspirational means, by engaging the audience as to what it takes to achieve excellence in the field of athletics.
UC offers 25 Division III intercollegiate sports affiliated with the NCAA, Empire 8 Conference and the ECAC. The Pioneers engage in spirited competition throughout the entire academic year and are well supported by members of the College community and the greater Utica area alike. The department supports 13 women’s sports and over 200 female student-athletes.
