FEILER-WILLIAMS-GARCIA HELP GENERALS CHARGE PAST MV HAWKS
HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals Men’s Basketball team had four players score in double figures Wednesday night against conference rival Mohawk Valley Community College in the varsity gym.
Herkimer 17-4 (10-1) built a 12-point led within the first 10 minutes after Peter Clark led Feiler on a perfect alley-oop layup.
It ballooned to an 18-point lead on makes from Enson Garcia (Bronx, NY), Julio Galay (Bronx, NY), Jerrell Hunter (Utica, NY), Wendall Williams (Syracuse, NY) and Feiler.
Feiler capped the first half with 22 points, which ended on an ‘and one’ play with just over a minute left, helping his team to a 50-35 lead. Feiler finished the game with 30.
The second half saw Garcia hit three-point field goals on the Generals first two possessions, finishing the game with four, on his way to 20 points. Also having monster second halves were Williams and Hunter.
Both players combined for 24, with Williams adding 14 and Hunter adding 10. Williams finished the game with 25, while Hunter finished with a season-high 18.
The Hawks eventually clawed back, getting within 10 (92-82), but with 1:24 left, a Hunter field goal on a Williams assist, then Feiler rebound on the defensive end, ended any chance of a comeback.
With the win, the Generals have now won seven consecutive Mountain Valley Conference games, giving them a 10-1 record, best in the conference. It doesn’t stop there.
Herkimer will play their last eight games against conference opponents. Next up is Clinton Community College.
The Generals will host the Cougars in the varsity gym this Saturday (2/1). Herkimer beat Clinton by nine the last time they played. Tip off is schedule for 2 p.m.
